Friday Peachy Riichi League

What Is the Peachy Riichi™ League?

A structured Riichi mahjong play series for players who want casual league play with real scoring and consistency — while still keeping things friendly, supportive, and social, without the pressure of tournament rules or competitive intensity.

This league is guaranteed weekly play with score tracking, friendly competition, and room to be social at the table.

If you've learned the basics and want a consistent seat every week — this is your league.

How It Works

• Each session is 2 hours of guaranteed play — same time, same day, every week.
• Scores will be tracked for learning and fun. This is NOT tournament play.
• Tables rotate between sessions to keep things social.
• Play follows relaxed house rules: no mandatory chombo penalties, wrong calls can be retracted, and you can take your time to practice scoring hands.
• Players are welcome to chat, help each other, and support the table during play. We can review hands to discuss strategy.

Requirements

You have taken our Riichi Class or already know how to:

• Build a legal winning hand with a yaku (4 sets + 1 pair)
• Make basic calls (Pon, Chi, Kan, Ron, Tsumo)

Scoring knowledge is NOT required — you'll pick it up as you play.

Scoring Rules

We will loosely follow Mahjong Soul Rules with a few modifiers for fairness in in-person play. If you are confused about any of the rules below, you can still join if you meet the requirements — we will happily explain them to you!

• Everyone starts with 25,000 points.
• The game ends when rotating out of South 4, even if no one is above 30,000. (South/West extension is off.)
• Uma: +20 / +10 / -10 / -20. Uma is split in cases of ties.
• No oka.
• Tobi ari: the game ends when a player has no more points.
• Aka ari / aka nashi (Red 5s): if fewer than 16 players, red fives will be used.
• No kiriage mangan. We are learning how to score!
• Atamahane is off. Double and triple ron allowed.
• Abortive draws are on.
• No agariyame and tenpaiyame.
• Pao is on.
• Kazoe yakuman allowed (13 han or more to declare yakuman).
• No double yakuman.
• Leftover riichi bets go to the first place seat.
• Kansai chiitoi is off. Duplicate pairs are not allowed in a chiitoi hand.
• No open riichi. (This will be communicated before the league starts if changed.)
• New kan dora indicators are revealed immediately.
• Double wind pair is 4 fu.
• Nagashi mangan is a special payment. It is not a win.
  • Honba does not affect the payment.
  • Noten payments are voided.
  • All other game progression stays unchanged. (Dealership still rotates if the dealer is not tenpai, the honba count increases by 1, and riichi sticks in the center stay in the center — they do not go to the nagashi mangan player.)

Table consensus > perfection! If there is uncertainty, the table agrees on the closest reasonable interpretation and moves on. Mrs. K is the final ruling, even if she rules incorrectly.

Table Options

Choose the setup that works for you. All four players must agree:

• Riichi Style HD table with 28 mm tiles (1 table)
• HK 40 mm automatic tables (4 tables)
• AMOS 28 mm numbers set with manual hand shuffle
• AMOS 28 mm complete gear set with manual hand shuffle

What to Expect (Player Etiquette)

We follow "Say, Show, Do" by saying the call, showing the tiles, and then completing the action.

We help others at the table. We want to win, but we are all here to learn the game and have a good time!

We play at a friendly pace and avoid rushing other players or taking too long ourselves!

• This is not a tournament.
• No shaming for low-value wins.
• No criticizing another player's discard choices.
• Mistakes are expected and welcomed — that's the point of practice!

On Fridays, Mrs. K and friends will be available for game reviews. Arrive at the studio at 6:30 PM and we can review your Mahjong Soul or Riichi City replays to help answer any questions you have.
