Nope. Our studio is not your shady Uncle's basement. Gambling, smoking, vaping, and drinking aren’t allowed in the studio. Respect the space, the game, and your fellow players.
Tucked upstairs in Atlanta Chinatown, our cozy studio offers automatic and traditional tables for popular Asian-styles of mahjong. All skill levels welcome.
Reservations are available by the seat or full table (4 seats) in 2, 4, or 6-hour blocks.
- Traditional Table – Manual shuffle. Works for any Asian-style mahjong.
- Automatic Table – Shuffles and builds for you. Faster games, less setup. Our default style is Hong Kong.
- Riichi Auto Table – For Japanese (Riichi) mahjong only.
Want to play a style like Chinese, Filipino, or Taiwanese? Just book a full table — and it’s your call.
Walk-ins are welcome, but we can’t promise a seat without a reservation.
Single Seat Reservations
Join a game at a Riichi or Hong Kong style table — we’ll group players by experience level when possible.
Table Reservations (4 Seats)
Reserve the whole table for your group. For traditional and automatic tables, choose your preferred style when you arrive. Riichi tables are for Riichi play only.

Common Questions
This section covers the most common stuff — food, rules, parking, and whether it's okay if you have no idea how to play (it is). For everything else, or if you're the kind of person who actually reads websites, check the full FAQ.
Is gambling allowed?
Can I bring food or drinks?
We don’t serve food or drinks upstairs, but you’re welcome to bring something in (if it's not too stinky) — and Atlanta Chinatown’s food court and restaurants are just downstairs. Amazing options, generous portions, unbeatable prices.
I’m a beginner — is that okay?
Absolutely. We welcome players of all experience levels. When you make a reservation, we ask about your experience and try to group you accordingly. If you've never played or need a refresher, you can even book a lesson. Find out more on our lessons page.
What kind of mahjong do you support?
Our tiles and tables support Asian-style play: Hong Kong, Chinese, Filipino, Taiwanese, and Japanese (Riichi). We do not currently offer or teach American-style mahjong.
Our "house style" for those who want to book a seat at a non-Riichi table, is Hong Kong. If you have a group and prefer a different style, book a table and play the one you like.
What's the parking situation?
Atlanta Chinatown in Chamblee offers abundant parking just seconds from our studio, and is free for all guests.

A Regular Spot to Play
Atlanta Mahjong Studio didn’t come from a business plan — it came from a love of the game and the need for a place to play it. One where you don’t have to chase down locations, guess the rules, or wonder if you’re welcome.
Curious how it came together?
Help Us Pay the Rent
If we were trying to get rich, we’d be doing literally anything else. Instead, we built a space where people can play mahjong, connect, and feel welcome — without breaking the bank.
Table rentals keep the lights on. Merch sales help us add new tables, replace parts when things eventually break, and keep the studio growing. Plus, the chairs are padded. You’re welcome.
